Born 1984 in Nizhny Novgorod. Eldest daughter of Boris Nemtsov, Russian statesman and opposition leader, who was assassinated on February 27, 2015, in front of the Kremlin walls. An economist by training, she started her career in an asset management company. In 2011 she joined RBC Television, a privately owned Russian TV channel, focused on financial markets and the world economy. At RBC she was a markets commentator, then the host of her own show. In May 2015, she left Russia for Germany, and in August 2015 joined Deutsche Welle where she hosts her own show. In 2015, she founded the Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom, in Germany. On the 12th of June, the foundation awarded the first Boris Nemtsov Prize to the Russian politician and journalist Lev Schlossbeg. The prize has been created to pay tribute to Boris Nemtsov’s bravery and his political legacy, and is awarded annually to a person who shows exceptional courage in fighting for democratic rights in Russia. On October 9-10, in Berlin, the foundation hosted the first Boris Nemtsov Forum in cooperation with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
